Laconia is easily accessible by air, car, bus, train and sea.


By Air

Laconia is easily accessible by air through nearby airports. The two closest airports are:
1. Kalamata International Airport (KLX): Located about 80 kilometres southwest of Laconia, Kalamata Airport serves domestic and international flights. From Kalamata, you can hire a taxi or public transportation to reach your destination in Laconia.
2. Athens International Airport (ATH): Situated approximately 250 kilometres northeast of Laconia, Athens Airport is a major hub for domestic and international flights. After landing in Athens, you can take a bus, or train, or rent a car to reach Laconia.

By Car

Driving to Laconia offers you the flexibility to explore the region at your own pace. Major highways and roads connect Laconia to various cities and regions in Greece. If you’re travelling from Athens, you can take the E65 and A7 highways, leading you to Laconia. The journey takes approximately 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

By Bus

Intercity buses (KTEL) operate regular routes connecting Laconia with major cities in Greece. The bus network provides a cost-effective option for travellers. Buses depart from Athens and other major cities, stopping at various towns within Laconia. You can check the KTEL website for schedules and routes.


By Train

While Laconia doesn’t have its train station, you can take a train to nearby cities like Kalamata or Tripoli and then continue your journey to Laconia by bus or taxi.

By Sea

If you’re arriving from nearby islands or other coastal regions, you can consider travelling by ferry. The port of Gythio serves as a gateway to Laconia, connecting it with the island of Kythira and other destinations. Ferries provide a scenic way to approach the region by sea.
